How to make a product video and a vertical ad from one photo
A worked example: one product photo becomes a 5-second turntable video and a vertical ad with a voiceover and captions. Which one to make, what to type, what to check.

A still photo sells less than a product that moves, but filming a turntable shot needs a studio. Here the same phone photo of a mug becomes two kinds of video, each from one real run, shown as it came back.
Which one do you need?
- A showcase video: 5 seconds, silent, the product on a studio backdrop turning about a quarter turn. For a listing’s video slot, a product page, or anywhere video autoplays muted.
- A vertical ad: 9:16, a script written from your facts, read by an AI voice, with captions and music. For TikTok, Reels, Shorts and other feeds where people watch with sound.
1. The showcase video
Only a photo is needed. The product is first placed on a clean studio backdrop, then filmed turning slowly while the camera eases in. The turn is kept small on purpose: in five seconds, a full spin is where video models start inventing sides of the product they have never seen.
2. The vertical ad
Add the product name and a few facts — material, size, what it does, who it is for. The script is written only from those, so “dishwasher safe” appears only if you typed it. Then pick a voice, background music and a caption style.
3. Check before you publish
- Watch it through. The motion is small, but a video model can still blur fine print or redraw a detail as the product turns.
- Read the script against the product. Every line comes from your facts; make sure each fact is still true.
- Check the platform’s own rules for video length, format and what claims you may make.
