How to make listing-ready product photos from one phone photo

A worked example: one phone photo of a mug becomes a white-background main image, a lifestyle photo and listing copy. What to shoot, what to type, what to check.

You need three things for a listing: a main image on pure white, at least one photo of the product in use, and copy. This guide makes all three from a single phone photo, using the AI product photo kit. Every image and line of copy below is from one real run, unedited.

1. Take the photo

  • Get the whole product in the frame, in focus. Cropped edges cannot be put back.
  • Any background will do — it is replaced. A kitchen counter or a desk is fine.
  • Light it reasonably: near a window in daylight is enough. Very dark photos lose colour and detail.
  • One product per photo, and wipe off dust and fingerprints — they survive into the result.

2. Fill in the form

  1. What is it? — the product as a shopper would name it: “Sage ceramic coffee mug with an oak handle”.
  2. Details for the copy — facts only: material, size, capacity, care, who it is for. The copy is written from these and nothing else, so anything you leave out stays out.
  3. Where should it be shown? — one plain scene: “a sunny kitchen table at breakfast”. Leave it empty and the AI picks one that suits the product.
  4. Copy language — the language you sell in. It can differ from the page language.

3. What came back

This run was in English. Choose Chinese, Japanese or another language under “Copy language” and the copy is written in it directly, not translated afterwards.

4. Check before you publish

  • Labels and small print. The product is kept as it is, but image models can still slip on very small text — compare it with the real thing.
  • The marketplace’s own image rules. Amazon, for example, asks for a pure white main image with the product filling most of the frame; check the current rules in your seller account before uploading.
  • Every claim in the copy. It only uses what you typed, so a wrong fact in “Details” becomes a wrong bullet.

What it costs

One run is 11 credits for all three. New accounts get 30 free credits, and you can fill in the form before signing in.
